About
I’m Rusty Kocian, a young marketer, writer, and designer that helps companies create remarkable products and experiences, engage fans, and innovate around emerging trends, technologies, and market shifts.
I graduated from one of the top marketing programs in the country, I’ve worked for 3 startups, I interned at a leading digital advertising agency, and I helped lead the largest student-run non-profit in the world. I’m into social media, interaction design, augmented reality, mobile apps, and storytelling.
This is my blog. It’s where I lament poor marketing and design decisions and dream of a better world. It’s where I share my ideas, beliefs, critiques, and discussions, a playground for intellectual prowess and business savvy. Because I believe in authenticity, these are rough cuts: unedited, uncensored, and unrestrained.

My Beliefs:
+Information wants to be free and ideas want to be shared.
+Don’t provoke the streisand effect.
+You no longer control your message, you can’t control audience reaction, and you can’t buy attention.
+Change is constant; stop subsidizing the horse and buggy.
+Storytelling is the lifeblood of our communities, and the backbone of public attention. Every successful product, service, idea, or invention starts with a story.
+The best marketing strategy is to be REMARKABLE.
+If you wanna be viral, you must be authentic.
+The internet is a great equalizer, the forefront of innovation, and the last bastion of a free society. We must protect it. Support net neutrality.
+Love the long tail. Embrace niche. Find 100 true fans.
+If you’re made for everyone, you’re boring. True game-changers piss (some) people off. Disruption is scary.
